Planning an Exit Wedding Toss

Throughout the world, weddings are considered as a celebration. Despite the many ways weddings differ in culture, it is still a celebration of love between the newlywed couple. And to showcase that love, it is no longer uncommon for the newlywed couple to come up with ways on how they would like to leave their wedding reception venue. While there are those who go the usual route and have a typical send-off, there are others that use different options-- such as throwing rice at the couple. Taken as a sign of fertility in ancient Roman times, the wedding exit toss is an important part of the wedding.

With so many other options to use apart from rice or confetti, the decision is yours to make as the newlywed couple. Here are some wedding exit toss options that you can use for your big day:
  • Leaves and petals – The good thing about using leaves and petals as a substitute for rice is that it does not fall to the ground more quickly. As a result, it produces a wonderful effect as it falls down to the floor and gets captured by the camera. You can also opt for dried herbs like rosemary and lavender to toss it over the newlywed couple.
  • Helium filled balloons – Compared to regular balloons, helium filled balloons will float away when you release them in the air.
  • Bubbles – You can rent a bubble machine or have your guests blow some bubbles as you pass by your exit toss.
  • Sparklers – Traditionally used in plenty of weddings, you can use this option if other ones do not fit your wedding theme. By having your guests lift up lighted sparklers, you can produce a lovely effect at night.
  • Doves – In plenty of cultures, the use of a pair of doves is considered a normal routine during weddings. You can also use this option if you would like a flock of birds fly above your head.
  • Floating lanterns – A growing trend is to release newly lighted lanterns up to the sky along with several others that come from your other guests. The trick here is to release the lanterns at the same time so that it can create a beautiful effect at night.

Depending on your preference, you can choose an appropriate wedding exit toss that you would like to use on your wedding day. However, you will have to check with your venue if it is permitted. For example, there are some venues that do not allow the use of rice during exit tosses. In most counties in California, the use of sparklers are considered illegal. This is why you have to ensure that your wedding exit toss idea is permitted before you decide to use it.
